EU NAVFOR hosting major Counter-Piracy exercise off Somalia | Coastweek

OFF SOMALIA -- EU NAVFOR ships and aircraft from Italy, Spain and Germany have operated alongside US, Korean and Japanese warships of CMF from 6th to 8th June. They worked towards developing common techniques and coordinated responses for dealing with piracy related events, and practiced how to execute counter-piracy operations and other maritime security related incidences. Since 2009, Combined Task Force (CTF) 151 has been conducting CMF’s counter-piracy operation patrolling the waters throughout the region. Mombasa (Xinhua) -- A new passenger train prepares to depart the modern Mombasa Rail Terminus at Miritini at the start of its four hour journey on Kenya's 472-kms. Mombada-Nairobi Standard Guage Railway. Dubbed 'Madaraka Express,' the SGR commuter train has so far ferried an estimated 1.4 million passengers while stimulating commerce along its corridor.
