Kenya is drafting a policy to track achievement
of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
officials said on Tuesday.

National Monitoring and Evaluation Policy is being reviewed by
stakeholders and will be presented to cabinet for approval by
the end of 2018.

Once in place, he
said, the policy will provide an enabling framework for
monitoring and evaluating to facilitate achievement of the
country’s development goals, such as those contained in the
national development blueprint, Vision 2030.
The policy will
establish common structures and standards across the entire
public sector for tracking progress in the implementation and
evaluation of all government policies, programs and projects,
financial and technical support in developing the policy from
development partners such as the United Nations, Sweden, and the
economic planning secretary at the ministry of national treasury
and planning, said the purpose of the policy is to guide and
improve the implementation of government policies, programs and
projects in order to achieve effective and efficient service
recognizes monitoring and evaluation as an integral part of
program management and is central to the measurement of the
government’s performance in general, he said.
