Mombasa Sports Club Tennis Section was a beehive of activity on
the weekend of 10th and 11th November 2018.
Humara Tennis held
their Mombasa Open Tennis Tournament 2018.
This is the second
time they have come down and hosted a tennis tournament in
This time round it
was Singles and Doubles format of play.
Championships for men had a record entry of 40 players in the
Qualification round on Day 1.
Out of which Top 16
players proceeded into the knockout draws.
The ladies had 13
players out of which the Top 4 players proceeded into the
Men’s Singles Finals
were between Karisa Kesi and Patrick Ochieng.
Karisa won straight
2 sets 6-2, 7-5 to emerge the winner.
Ladies Finals were
between Purity Odhiambo and Marion Njeri.
Purity won straight
2 sets 6-4, 6-4 to emerge the winner.
The Men’s Doubles
were played between Karisa Kesi / kazungu Kesi and Maina Mburu/
The Kesis’ won 6-3
to lift the Doubles Trophy.
All is whole it was
fun filled weekend and it brought life to the Tennis Section at
the Mombasa Sports Club.
director Humfrey Acarpel has expressed his gratitude to the
Mombasa Sports Club for the hospitality accorded and they will
definitely return next year for some more Competitive Tennis.
