Coastweek-- Over 2000 scholars from 58 different
countries converged at the prestigious Yale University campus
from November 15th to 21st, 2018 for the
culmination of the 2018 World Scholar’s Cup season.
This final event, dubbed the
tournament of champions, brought together the top qualifying
teams from the 4 global rounds held between June and August at
Barcelona, Spain; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Melbourne, Australia
and Durban, South Africa.
Kenya was represented by 11 different
schools and Oshwal Academy had 2 teams in the senior category.
The scholars were exploring the theme:
An entangled World across 6 subject Areas viz: History, Science,
and literature, Social Studies and Art and Music.
They collaboratively and competitively
battled it out for team and individual Medals in team debates,
Collaborative Writing, Scholar’s Challenge and Scholar’s Bowl.
Our seasoned debater, Kamran Sheikh,
was among the judging panel for being among the top debaters and
he was appointed to give the final verdict of the panel.
The 6 scholars braved cut throat
competition from the best of the best globally and managed a
total of 20 medals (6 gold and 14 silver medals).
We extend hearty congratulations to
them for putting our School’s name on the world map.
As the curtain fell for 2018 WSC
season, the scholars left Yale University enriched in ways they
would not have imagined before joining the competition.
Their individual medal tally was as
follows: Shamma Doshi: 3 Silver, Lakhvir Sohal: 4 Silver, Sara
Said: 1 Gold and 1 silver, Keshni Shah: 1 gold and 1 Silver,
Deep Shah: 1 Gold and 2 Silver and Kamran Sheikh: 3 Gold and 3
