Congo Boys routed Shanzu UTD in Nothern Zone Pool ‘A’ Match

Coastweek -- Congo Boys came from behind to route visiting Shanzu United 4-1 in a rescheduled FKF Division Two Northern Zone Pool A league match played at Serani Sports Club Mbaraki, thanks to poor goalkeeping by Shanzu United custodian Daniel Bahasha.

Shanzu United dominated the pace for the first half an hour until the moment of theatrics by Bahasha.

Teenage prodigy Joseph Otieno shot the visitors into lead in the 20th minute.

Congo Boys regained composure and Babu Ali Ahmed cut short the celebrations at quarter an hours mark from a spectacular free kick that caught the goalkeeper napping.

Babu Ali Ahmed was on target five minutes later to complete a brace from a corner kick that crashed into the net.

Patrick Matano netted the third goal from a drive that sent the goalkeeper sprawling helplessly on the turf four minutes to break.

Goal merchant Anwar Abdulhakim sent the visitors packing in the 73rd minute to secure vital points for the Mwembe Tayari street club.

This is the second time Congo Boys have beaten their opponents this season.

The Yusuf Ndere side won the the first leg match played at Shanzu College with a 3-1 score line.

Then second leg match was initially set for August 18, 2018 but failed to kick off following a disagreement over a clash of stockings colours and dispute over eligibility of players during the checking time.

The win has seen Congo Boys move two points clear at the top of the 17-team FKF Division Two Northern Zone Pool A League table with 53 points ahead of second placed Kilifi All Stars who were not in action recently.

Cong Boys welcome Mnarani United tomorrow in their next league match set for their home turf at Serani Sports Club.

Meanwhile, the FKF Kwale County League kicked off with major shock results.

Golini Youth Rangers upset the form book when they tamed GFC Rangers 2-0 during the in the Zone B match played at Mzimuni ground in Ukunda.

Mwinyi Omar Kuuza broke the deadlock for the victors up in the 13th minute and the same player completed a double from a penalty awarded in the 74th minute following an infringement inside the box.

Elsewhere in Zone C match played at Real Junior ground in Ukunda, hosts Real Junior stunned Shimba Hills secondary with a solitary goal.

Juma Mkazi scored the all-important goal five minutes after an hours’ mark.

In another Zone C match staged at Zawama ground, Eleven Stars went down 2-0 to Ramisi Secondary.

Ramisi drew the first blood in the 24th minute through Mohammed Mzara and Hatib Mharizo provided the last straw in the 65th minute.

Zone A matches involving Rising Stars and Minyenzeni Sports scheduled at Minyenzeni primary as well as Samburu Lions Vs Green Forest set for Samburu Kasarani were both postponed due to heavy rains that pounded Coast Region and flooded the soccer pitches in Kinango as well as affected transport system.
