The Aga Khan Hospital, Mombasa an
institution of the Aga Khan Health Service Kenya held a breast
cancer awareness walk this Saturday to flag off a month of
breast cancer activities.
It was a very exciting moment for the
Breast Cancer Awareness Support Group (BCASG), they have
worked tirelessly for over a decade creating awareness
on breast cancer, raising funds and treating over 120
needy breast cancer patients.
They gave hope to women who had no
Out of these women, the Breast Cancer
Survivors of Coast was born.
BRECASCO is currently a group of over
55 active thriving women who are the epitome of survival
They share information and remedies,
foster a proactive and positive spirit, they learn again
how to relax, enjoy life, and laugh often.
As the walk took into the streets of
Mombasa raising awareness on breast cancer, and
announcing the dates of the free breast camp at Aga khan
Hospital Mombasa on 26th October, the key
Early detection is the cure.
What was special and different this
year is that on top of the usual annual breast cancer
screening at the hospital, for the very first time Aga
Khan Hospital venturing out to spread the awareness and
undertake free breast camps in other counties where it
has Outreach Medical Centres:
Voi Town Medical Centre - 29th
Ukunda Branch on - 27th
Bofa Kilifi Medical Centre - 10th
The walk was flagged off by the County
Executive for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Hon. Fawz
Together with the Chief Executive
Officer of the Aga Khan Hospital Mombasa Irfan Khan, Hon
Abdulswamad, Hon Mohamed Faki and Mohamed Hersi, all
friends and supporters of BCASG.
