Aga Khan Hospital Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

Coastweek-- The Aga Khan Hospital, Mombasa an institution of the Aga Khan Health Service Kenya held a breast cancer awareness walk this Saturday to flag off a month of breast cancer activities.

It was a very exciting moment for the Breast Cancer Awareness Support Group (BCASG), they have worked tirelessly for over a decade creating awareness on breast cancer, raising funds and treating over 120 needy breast cancer patients.

They gave hope to women who had no hope.

Out of these women, the Breast Cancer Survivors of Coast was born.

BRECASCO is currently a group of over 55 active thriving women who are the epitome of survival and grace.

They share information and remedies, foster a proactive and positive spirit, they learn again how to relax, enjoy life, and laugh often.

As the walk took into the streets of Mombasa raising awareness on breast cancer, and announcing the dates of the free breast camp at Aga khan Hospital Mombasa on 26th October, the key message was:

Early detection is the cure.

What was special and different this year is that on top of the usual annual breast cancer screening at the hospital, for the very first time Aga Khan Hospital venturing out to spread the awareness and undertake free breast camps in other counties where it has Outreach Medical Centres:

Voi Town Medical Centre - 29th September

Ukunda Branch on - 27th October

Bofa Kilifi Medical Centre - 10th November.
