KIGALI (Xinhua) --
Rwanda head coach Vincent Mashami has expressed
confidence ahead of Sunday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Group H
qualifier against Cote d’Ivoire.
“The Cote d’Ivoire
team is in good form with renowned players, but I have
confidence in my team,” Mashami told reporters here on Saturday.
“It has been a while since we played a major game, but we are
ready to do our best to win Sunday’s match.”
The Rwanda squad
includes skipper Haruna Niyonzima, goalkeeper Olivier Kwizera of
South African side Free State Stars, and striker Dany Usengimana,
who turns out for Singida United in Tanzania.
Salomon Nirisarike of Belgian side AFC Tubize, Djihad Bizimana,
who also plays in Belgium with Beveren, Faustin Usengimana of
Kuwait’s Khitan Sport Club, and Patrick Sibomana, who turns out
for Shakhtyor FC in Belarus.
However, the team
will be without Gor Mahia striker Jacques Tuyisenge due to
Rwanda need a win on
Sunday to boost their qualification prospects, having lost their
first Group H game 2-1 against the Central African Republic in
June last year.
Along with Cote
d’Ivoire and the Central African Republic, the other side to
face Rwanda in Group H is Guinea.
