Wananyuki FC put up a sterling show to win for the first time
the prestigious Unga ni Taifa Super Cup when they beat Green
Eagles 5-4 on post-match penalties during the final match at
Mombasa Sports Club.

spot kicks via Dahili Joachim, Jimmy Baggae and Pacific Odhiambo
with James Mutua, IbrahimYassa, Saddam Hussein and Sunday Mwaila
awarded Sh100,000 with Eagles getting Sh50,000.
speaker Aharub Khatri gave Wananyuki Sh50,000, Eagles Sh30,000
and Congo Boys Sh20,000.
Other prizes went to
Jimmy Baggae of Eagles (top scorer), up-coming player Musa Anwar,
the best player Bernard Safari of Wananyuki and the player who
played in all the 14th editions of the tournament,
Mohamed Madigi of Mombasa Sports Club.
The tournament was
sponsored by Mombasa Maize Millers who pledged to sponsor next
year’s event as well.
