Junior Stars Hosts Bombers and First Touch Academies

Coastweek -- Last weekend, the Arena Futsal in Nyali was a beehive of activity and was populated by an embarrassment of football talent.

Junior Stars, who were the host team, played high octane football against Nairobi juggernauts First Touch Soccer Academy and the Blue Bombers Soccer Academy.

The friendly matches were played for the Under-9, Under-11 and Under-13 teams’ category.

There was no shortage of entertainment on a sunny Saturday afternoon at the vibrant coastal city.

In the under 9 category, the first match saw Juniors Stars’ first team whitewash First Touch Soccer Academy 2-0.

There was a further goalless draw between the Junior Stars third team and visitors Blue Bombers.

First touch bounced back to beat the Junior Stars’ second team and therefore finish second in the day’s standing in the age group.

The under-11 age group saw Junior Stars reign supreme again as they outclassed First Touch 3-2 in arguably the match of the day.

Junior Stars’ Arnold Deche’s heroics in goal were a thing of beauty, he produced stunning saves to keep the score line affirmative.

The second game was more relieving as the visitors bounced back to beat the Junior Stars reserves 2-0.

Mouthwatering action was saved for the under 13 age group. Flair, energy, full-throttle football action and sleekness were also on show.

In this age group, the hosts were in bullish mood trouncing both visiting team with some aplomb.

First at the receiving end was First Touch, massacred 3-0 by a well-oiled Junior Stars first team.

The Blue Bombers were not also lucky as Aslam Mpaata’s solitary goal meant they would also taste defeat against a second string Junior Stars side.

There was a goalless draw between the Junior Stars third team and First Touch.

The conclusion of the games paved way for closing remarks from Coach Greg of First Touch who was happy about the positive interaction between his team and the hosts. Coach Jorry of Junior Stars was also happy about his team’s performance as he promised even more to come.

The Junior Stars founder Mrs Mariam Mpaata concluded by appreciating the visiting teams for coming and rallied their respective patrons to continue grooming children in football to make them positively engaged.
