Mombasa’s Heritage Essay Competition For Secondary Schools

Coastweek-- Friends of Fort Jesus, in partnership with National Museums of Kenya, Mombasa County Government and Wildlife Clubs of Kenya have organised an essay completion that is open to all secondary schools in Mombasa County.

The subject of the essay is Mombasa’s Heritage. Mombasa is an ancient city with cosmopolitan inhabitants and a rich history.

The essay can be about natural or built heritage, tangible and intangible, traditions, art, crafts, music, fashion and much more. It is open to interpretation.

There will be prizes of Ksh.7500, 5000 and 3000 for the three best essays. In addition there will be 5 prizes of Ksh. 1,000 for highly commended entries.

Prizes will be given out at ceremony to be held at the Fort Jesus at a date to be announced.

All entries must be submitted under the school name. Each school may submit up to three essays.

The closing date has been now been extended to Friday, 14th September, 20018, 12.00 noon.
