playgrounds to mark the International Youth Day.

Institute of Statistics of Rwanda.
This year’s International Day of Youth
is themed with Safe Spaces for Youth.
Youth need safe spaces where they can
come together, engage in activities related to their diverse needs and
interests, participate in decision making processes and freely express
themselves, said an introduction of the International Day of Youth 2018 on the
website of Division for Inclusive Social Development of the UN Department of
Economic and Social Affairs.
While there are many types of spaces,
safe spaces ensure the dignity and safety of youth, read the introduction.
The General Assembly of UN in 1999
endorsed the recommendation that August 12 be declared International Youth Day.
