worker in Denmark, while the bride who is a journalist
and mass communication student at Gretsa University in
Thika. She is the daughter of the Managing Editor of the
Coast Woman Magazine George Sunguh and Sellah.
The annual Rath Yatra held on Saturday the 14th July
was a huge success as hundreds upon hundreds of devotees
joined the procession gleefully pulling the rath
(chariot) of Lord Jaggarnath through the streets of
Mombasa dancing and singing his name throughout the
three hour journey. Over thousand devotees turned up for
the Samoh aarti and maha prashadam at the end.
On 15th July 2018, The
Saturday Club of Mombasa undertook the task of donating
sanitary towels to the female students of Bridge
International School in Mshomoroni. The donation
provided for a one year stock of sanitary towels for 40
girls together with hair bands and hairpins. The
Saturday Club chairman Rajesh Shukla emphasized on the
motto of Freedom for girls and urged the rest to take
steps towards ensuring hygiene and empowering the girl
The Indian Association
has kindly donated blankets and family size lanterns to
30 beneficiaries who are disabled and the needy people
on tricycles whose families live in rural areas or their
home towns. They were sleeping on bare floors but now
they can utilize these blankets to sleep comfortably and
keep them warm and the lanterns will go a long way in
helping them in their daily lives as they were using tin
lamps which were harmful to the children. The
beneficiaries came from as far as Kisauni, Mtwapa,
Mishomoroni, Likoni, Mtongwe and many other Coastal
areas. Vinod Dattani, Amit Bhudeo and some of the
Davis & Shirtliff Coast led by General Manager
Mohamed Farook has installed and commissioned a
Dayliff DSD pump at Makupa Primary School where the
staff also planted 56 trees in the grounds as part
of their Founders’ Day activities. Pictured are
