Tanzanian president meets senior CPC official

DAR ES SALAAM, (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian President John Magufuli met here with Song Tao, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Monday.

Hailing the long-standing friendship between the two countries, Song said CPC is willing to enhance party-to-party exchanges with Tanzania’s ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) and learn from each other.

China will adhere to the principles of sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith in its Africa policy, which was put forward by President Xi Jinping, and take bilateral ties to a new high, Song said.

For his part, Magufuli said the CCM will continue to maintain and carry forward the traditional friendship between the two countries and further promote bilateral relations.

During his visit, Song also met with CCM secretary general Bashiru Ally and Tanzanian foreign minister Augustine Philip Mahiga.

He also attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Julius Nyerere Leadership School and the opening ceremony of the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting Africa Thematic Event.
