Kenyan bourse key indices register positive gains   

NAIROBI (Xinhua) -- All the key indices of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) registered positive gains as the market recorded vibrant trading.

The NSE 20 share Index was up 25.43 points to stand at 3,301.70, while the All Share Index (NASI) picked up 1.62 points to settle at 172.99. The NSE 25 Share index added 33.91 points to stand at 4,428.22.

Turnover rose 77 percent to 4.9 million U.S. dollars from a volume of 14 million shares from 9.2 million worth 2.8 million dollars on Wednesday.

The banking sector traded the most shares to account for 56 percent of the day’s traded value. Kenya Commercial Bank was the most actively traded counter in the sector.

Safaricom had 5.4 million shares changing hands at between 0.28 dollars and 0.29 dollars to represent 31.4 percent of the day’s traded value.

The bond market had 22 million dollars transacted compared to 29 million dollars posted Wednesday. Foreign investors represented 78 percent of total turnover, with the investors being net sellers.
