Ethiopia’s flag carrier Ethiopian Airlines (ET)
announced Friday it has won an Export and Import Cargo
Transportation award in China’s Guangzhou.
a press statement, ET said the award was given on Wednesday at a
customers symposium organized by Guangzhou Baiyun International
Ethiopian Airlines currently accounts for 13 percent of the
total international cargo transportation at Bayiun International
Tewolde GebreMariam, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, said ET is
playing a leading role in supporting China-Africa investment and
trade ties by availing critical air connectivity.
has regular daily cargo and passenger flights to China’s
Guangzhou, Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai and four times a week
to Chengdu with plans to include Shenzhen in June 2018.
Ethiopian Airlines was the first African carrier and the fourth
in the world to fly to China back in 1973.
