Bamburi Cement confirming appointment of Managing Director

Bamburi Cement Ltd has confirmed the appointment of Seddiq Hassani as the new Managing Director of the company and a Member of the Board of Directors.

Commenting on the new appointment the Board stated:

"We are pleased with Seddiq Hassani joining the Company as the new Managing Director.

"We are pleased with Seddiq Hassani joining the Company as the new Managing Director.

"We are confident that with his strong and wide experience in operational and functional positions and more specifically in leading transformation and managing growth strategies at both Country and International level will support the continued growth of the business to achieve its mid and long-term strategic goals".

The Board also thanked Eric Kironde for ably handling the dual roles of acting Managing Director and Finance Director over the four month period.

Seddiq Hassani joins Bamburi Cement from LafargeHolcim Middle East and Africa Region where he was the Head of Growth and Innovation since September 2015, based in Paris France.

During his career, Seddiq has progressed in various leadership roles after joining Lafarge Morocco from Arthur Andersen in 2000.

He later served in senior roles in Control, Procurement, Logistics, Commercial and General Management until 2015, where he was named to his most recent post.

Seddiq holds a PhD in Mechanics from the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (ENPC), France.

The new changes come at the time when the Company is on course to commission in the second half of 2018, the first phase of its capacity expansion projects in both Kenya and Uganda that will see the Group’s cement capacity increase by 1.8 million tons.

This is in line with the Group’s confidence that it is well positioned strategically to grow in the future while innovatively enhancing the value for customers and creating shared value for all stakeholders

At the same time, the Board also announced the appointment of Nicolas George as a Board Director of Bamburi Cement Limited and Managing Director of Hima Cement Ltd, Uganda.

Mr George joined Lafarge in 2007 as China Strategy Manager and has held various positions in France, China and Singapore with the last role as Head of Strategy South East Asia and China based in Singapore.

Mr George will be a member of the Board of Directors.
