Large stocks rally amid low turnover
in Nairobi Securities Exchange       

NAIROBI (Xinhua) -- Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) blue-chip index sustained an upward trend on Thursday pushed up by rise in prices of select stocks.

The NSE 20 Share Index went up by 15.21 points or 0.41 percent to close the day at 3,752.48.

Similarly, the NSE All Share Index (NASI) went up 0.97 points to stand at 181.57.

Kenya’s leading telecom Safaricom was the most traded counter after moving 6.2 million shares at 0.29 U.S. dollars, a rise of 0.9 percent.

Equity turnover stood at 4.9 million dollars on a volume of 15 million shares from 6.3 million dollars from 20 million shares on Wednesday.
