Kenya shilling strengthened further against dollar

NAIROBI (Xinhua) -- The Kenyan shilling strengthened further against the U.S. dollar on Wednesday helped by increased inflows from various sectors.

The local unit traded at an average of 101.30 to the dollar during the session, a sustained gain from Tuesday’s position of 101.35.

East African nation’s Central Bank quoted the local unit at 101.30 against the dollar, up from 101.35 in the previous session.

On the other hand, commercial banks placed the currency at between 101.15 and 101.35 from 101.25 and 101.35 to the dollar in the previous session.

Against the Sterling Pound, the shilling similarly strengthened to trade at 140.51 from 141.98 on Tuesday.
