Kenya Ports Authority’s sponsored Bandari FC which is taking part in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).

Wilson Obungu is team manager Of KPA sponsored Bandari FC

Coastweek -- Dynamic Wilson Obungu is the new team manager of the Kenya Ports Authority’s sponsored Bandari FC which is taking part in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).

Obungu takes over the post held previously by Alfred Achayo Obwaka who died last two weeks.

He is expected to be buried tomorrow at his rural Kiswaro village home in Rarieda Constituency in Siaya County.

Bandari FC Board member Salim Sumra said Obungu fill the post held by the late Obwaka and hjas also been assigned to assist goalkeeper trainer Razak Siwa.

"We have confidence Obungu will manage the team well and to our satisfaction and co-operate with Siwa in training our goalkeepers to perform extremely well in both the premier league and cup matches," said Sumra.

At the same time, Sumra confirmed that they had promoted five players from their second string side, Bandari Youth.

The players, he said will now play for the Bandari FC in the Kenya Premier league.

The five players are Jude Otieno, Swale Chacha, Hassan Idd Shamawia, Dennis Magige and Joachim Dahili.

Sumra said the players were being watched for their performances during the Bandari Youth matches. The youth team won last season’s FKF Mombasa sub-branch league.

"We have decided to promote our five young players who played well in 2017 and we are confident they will play a bid role in helping Bandari win this year’s KPL and other competitions this year," said Sumra.

He said a striker he did not want to mention from Tanzania is still in trial and they would only reveal his name after completing signing exercise.

The Bandari official said they are in the process of finalising signing arrangements of a Rwa-ndese goalkeeper, Bushunga Abuoba. Sumra confirmed the signing of Abuoba.

He however, said he will be in a position to comment about Edwin Lavatsa’s move to Tusker FC, according to Futaa.com.

Futaa.com reported that the KPL side, Tusker FC has completed the signing of Bandari FC forward Edwin Lavatsa on a three-year deal.

The former Gor Mahia and Mathare United forward moves to the Ruaraka based side after two seasons with Bandari where he won the Gotv Shield with the side in 2016.
