At least 1.6 million children have been immunized
against measles in the past three weeks in restive Nigeria’s
northeast state of Borno, an official said Wednesday.
children were immunized under two phases of the exercise, Haruna
Mshelia, the state Commissioner for Health, told reporters in
Maiduguri, the state capital.
state government had also vaccinated about one million residents
in a maiden cholera immunization exercise.
than 950,000 doses of oral cholera vaccines were administered to
people to contain outbreak of the disease in the state in the
past three months.
