(Xinhua) -- Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on
Thursday vowed to win the war again terrorism, citing unity
among Kenyans in flushing out terrorists responsible for the
loss of innocent lives in the country.
Kenyatta said terrorists have tried to
create division, hatred and fear among Kenyans but have failed.
He lauded the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF)
for their commitment to keeping Kenya safe, especially in the
fight against terrorism.
“I want to be perfectly clear: we will
win because we have right and might on our side,” the
president said when he presided over the KDF officer cadets’
commissioning parade at the Kenya Military Academy at Lanet
in Nakuru County.
He urged all Kenyans to be alive to
the fact that terrorism cannot be defeated by the military might

of Kenya depends on how the crucial factors of peace, security,
governance and sound economic development policies are brought
to act on each other for the advancement of the society.
He lauded the military for ensuring
that Kenyans of different ethnic and religious backgrounds work
together in harmony as patriots guided by the values of loyalty,
discipline, professionalism, integrity and a high sense of
Kenyan soldiers are currently engaged
in the fight against the militia group in southern Somalia where
its soldiers under, the Africa Union peacekeeping mission (AMISOM)
have intensified fight against the insurgents.
The country faces insecurity as bomb
attacks using improvised explosive devices and grenades have
become more frequent in the coastal city of Mombasa and
northeastern region since KDF entered Somalia in 2011 to secure
the shared border with the lawless country.
