In a scintillating display of their
dancing and singing talent, the artist left the audience captivated and
Nearly 700 attended the event.
This performance was part of the
celebration of 70 years of Indian Independence and Urafiki Utsav
(Festival of Friendship).
The event was graced by H.E Evans
Achoki, County Commissioner, Mombasa as Chief Guest and H.E Salim
Mahmoud Salim, Deputy County Commissioner, Mombasa; H.E Abdulswamad
Shariff Nassir, Member of Parliament, Mvita and Ms. Rukia Rashid, Vice
Chair, National Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Mombasa Branch as
Guests of Honour.
Earlier on Friday, November 17, 2017
the Gotipua Artists performed in Lamu as part of the Lamu Cultural
Festival before a 2,500 strong audience.
It was the second participation by
India in the Lamu Cultural Festival.
The first being last year by a
Gujarati Folk Dance Troupe from India. The event was also attended by
H.E Mrs. Suchitra Durai, High Commission of India to Kenya and Mr.
Sanjeev Khanduri, Assistant High Commissioner of India, Mombasa.
