Mombasa based Media16 team members’ presented foodstuff and clothing to children at Bura’s Villa 16 Children home in Taita Taveta County last Friday. The team comprising of professional journalists and photo journalists from various media houses at the Coast whose aim is to promote tourism and support needy children. They had paid a visit to the home which is among the projects being supported by the Team in partnership with friends.

Indian Association sponsored cataract surgery | COASTWEEK

The Indian Association sponsored cataract surgery for an orphan, master Ronny Chembo aged 9 years under General Anesthetic. Master Ronny has cataract both eyes and lives with his aunt, a teacher Ms Joan Bahati in Mtwapa. Joan thanked Vinod Dattani and Indian Association for their continuous support towards pediatric cases. The surgery was done at the Lions Medical Centre by Dr. George Binns. The family also thanked the Indian Association Trustee Amit Budhdeo and Managing Trustee Vinod Dattani for the gift to the child.

 
 

Kikuyu tribe performs a traditional ceremony in Nyeri | COASTWEEK

NYERI (Xinhua) — Members of Nyakinyua, a women cultural association from the Kikuyu tribe in Nyeri County performs a traditional ceremony in Nyeri town, July 16, 2017. The ceremony which was held here on Sunday involved women graduate to motherhood then grand-motherhood. These practices are gaining momentum nationally due to the government initiative aimed at promoting native culture.
