StarTimes Media to Beam International Champions Cup (ICC)

Coastweek-- Pay Television Company StarTimes Media has confirmed the live broadcast of the 2017 International Champions Cup.

The annual club soccer tournament features football teams from Europe playing pre-season matches bringing together many of European football’s top clubs.

The tournament being staged in China, United States and Singapore kicks off on 18th July to 5th August 2017 and will see the top English Premier League, La liga, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid, Barcelona among others in action ahead of the 2017/18 season kick off.

Arguably the highlight of the ICC will take place in the US, where two of the most high-profile domestic club matches are set to take place.

Manchester City are set to take on city rivals Manchester United while Champions League winners Real Madrid will face rivals Barcelona in only the second staging of the El Clásico outside Spain.

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund having won the Bundesliga title eight times since 2010 will face AC Milan and Arsenal in the Chinese leg of the ICC.

Bayern Munich will then proceed to Singapore after their final game against AC Milan.

Bayern Munich will then meet Rossoneri’s city rivals Inter, for whom the participation in the ICC is the closest they will come to international football this season after missing out on a place in Europe following a disappointing 7th-place finish in the Serie A.

Luciano Spalletti’s men will take on Bayern in their first match on July 27, before finishing the mini round-robin tournament with a game against Premier League champions Chelsea.

“All the International Champions Cup matches will be broadcasted live and exclusively on StarTimes five sport channels as we are the tournament’s exclusive broadcaster for Sub-Saharan Africa,” noted StarTimes Vice President Mr. Mark Lisboa.
