Nzoia Defeat Coast Stima In Post-Match Penalties 

Coastweek -- A SuperSport Premier League club, Nzoia Sugar FC should count themselves lucky and remained in the GOTV Shield tournament when they beat Coast Stima 6-5 on post-match penalties in a match played at Mbaraki Sports Club.

During the normal time of play, 90 minutes, the home team dominated the first half with Nzoia taking the lion’s share in the last 45 minutes.

Nzoia team manager, Evans Kadenge said they fielded their second string team, leaving all their first eleven players await their SportPesa Premier League clash against Posta Rangers in Nairobi today ( Friday)

“I congratulate our players for playing well and qualified for the next round where we’ve been drawn against Sony Sugar.

“Coast Stima is a good team and I’m sure it will be on top in few years’ time,” Kadenge said.

Coast Stima head coach, Swaleh Kineru said they were beaten by a premier league side which is more experienced.

“We deserved to win the game during the 90 minutes of play but our striking force failed to utilise the chances,” Kineru told sport reporters at the end of the match.

Stima, a National Division One league team, squandered three golden scoring opportunities  through wild shooting by their strikers Jacob Mushiri, John Zambara
and former Bandari striker Muhiddin Abbas in the 13th, 33rd and 42 minutes respectively.

In the second session, Nzoia came back strongly with Jonathan Lodakey, Brian Yakhama and Collins Wakhungu making dangerous raids by all their tries were saved by Coast Stima goalkeeper Joel Ochieng.

In penalty shoot-out, Nzoia netted via Stephen Wakanya, Brian Yakhama, Jonathan Lodakey, Elvis Rupia, Hillary Wandera and Humphrey Katasi with shots by Elvis Ronack and Vincent Ngesa saved by Stima goalie Joel Ochieng.

For Stima scorers were Mohamed Erick, Seif Khamis, Mazera Hassan, Jacob Muchiri and Hussein Kama with Yusuf Lucky and Paul Ndara shots saved by Nzoia goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi as a kick by Kevin Washe went wide.
