The 41 year old iconic giant stone crocodile statue
at the entrance of Mamba crocodile village in Nyali that was
destroyed on Monday, April 11 2016 has been re-erected to the
jubilation of the local community, writes
The eight-metre long crocodile statue
which had been a major attraction for tourists was designed and
built by an Israeli architect 41 years ago and was sadly brought
down to pave way for road construction.
On Saturday 15th 2017,
almost a year later, the Mombasa County government fulfilled its
promise to restore the destroyed crocodile sculpture.
Nyali MP Hezron Awiti and Governor Ali
Hassan Joho were in attendance to officially open the crocodile
statue at the Mamba Village Center.
The freshly painted life-like
sculpture is more bedazzling than its predecessor.
