The Aga Khan Hospital Mombasa (AKHM)
is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Irfan Khan as
the incoming CEO for the Aga Khan Health Services, Mombasa
Cluster after the retirement of Mr. Noorali Momin.
Irfan who is a Kenyan national holds
two Master degrees from Imperial College,
University of London, UK, the most recent degree
being a MBA with specialization in Customer
Focused Strategy and Entrepreneurship.
An engineer by profession, lrfan has
over 20 years of experience in healthcare
management and has worked in various
institutions mainly in Kenya and Pakistan,
having particular experience in cancer care,
cardiac services and neurosciences.
lrfan also has extensive experience
in the support services of hospitals including
facilities management, medical records,
materials management and project management.
AKHM also announces the appointment of
Dr. Hemed Said Twahir as The Medical Director
The Chief Executive Officer Irfan Khan
and the Medical Director Dr. Hemed Twahir for
the Aga Khan Health Services, Mombasa Cluster.
Dr. Twahir joined AKHM in the year
2009 as a Resident Consultant in the Department of Paediatrics
and has over the years progressed in his career with the
institution to the position of Head of Paediatric Department.
He holds an MBBS degree from Nishtar
Medical College, Master of Medicine in Paediatrics and Child
Health from University of Nairobi, Sub-speciality/fellowship
qualifications in Paediatrics Nephrology and an alumni of
Strathmore Business School’s “Leading High Performance
Healthcare Organizations” (LeHHO).
This is an exciting time for The Aga
Khan Hospital, Mombasa after recently rolling out its
business plan with a signing ceremony between Aga Khan
Health Service Kenya and the Agence Française de
Développement (AFD) in January.
Construction has begun of the first
Catheterization Laboratory (Cathlab) in the Coast province
which will facilitate patients requiring angiography and
angioplasty to obtain treatment in Mombasa.
Further such projects, advancements
and renovations are planned for the future thus positioning the
Aga Khan Hospital, Mombasa as the leading secondary care
hospital in the region.
