Heralds The Arrival Of Dark Forces

Coastweek -- Making a worldwide release is the superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Wolverine at NYALI CINEMAX, writes Nidaa Malik.

Director James Mangold’s Logan is the tenth installment in the X-Men film series, as well as the third and final Wolverine film where past-his-prime Logan is undertaking a final adventure in the post-apocalyptic future.

It’s 2029. Mutants are gone or very nearly so.

An isolated, despondent Logan is drinking his days away in a hideout on a remote stretch of the Mexican border, picking up petty cash as a driver for hire.

His companions in exile are the outcast Caliban and an ailing Professor X, whose singular mind is plagued by worsening seizures.

But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy abruptly end when a mysterious woman appears with an urgent request—that Logan shepherd an extraordinary young girl to safety.

Soon, the claws come out as Logan must face off against dark forces and a villain from his own past on a live-or-die mission, one that will set the time-worn warrior on a path toward fulfilling his destiny.

Rating:           Adults Only for strong brutal violence and language throughout, and for brief nudity.

The action and adventure stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart and Dafne Keen.

Commando: A One Man Army was loved by the audience and garnered immense appreciation for its thrilling, action-packed sequences.

From the looks of the Commando 2 trailer, the audience must fasten their seat belts and gear up for double the adrenaline rush in this worldwide release !

Vidyut Jammwal is back into the shoes of Karanvir Singh Dogra, playing an international spy all set to eradicate black money.

While Commando was widely applauded for its electrifying action sequences, in the sequel Vidyut takes his action notches higher as he will be seen doing some killer daredevil stunts.

India’s most wanted black money agent, Vicky Chaddha, gets arrested in Malaysia and is kept in a safe house by the Malaysian authorities, along with his wife.

A team of four is being sent to Malaysia to bring them to India.

Apart from the growth of inter-personal relationships, the mission has quite a few twists and turns on its way.

The story follows Karan, who is skilled in many aspects of survival, weaponry, hand-to-hand combat as he uses his brain and brawn to recover all of the laundered black money which has been siphoned to banks abroad.

Produced by the Director of super hits: Namaste London, Waqt and writer of Pink, Airlift and D Day, the movie also stars Adah Sharma, Freddy Daruwala, Esha Gupta and Shefali Shah in pivotal roles.

Based on the 2010 bestselling novel by W. Bruce Cameron, A Dog’s Purpose follows the soulful and surprising life of a dog (voiced by Josh Gad) as he is reincarnated as different breeds belonging to various owners.

Over the course of multiple lifetimes, the canine’s existence intersects with that of a young boy who rescued him in 1962.

The devoted dog finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he teaches to laugh and love.

The film stars Britt Robertson, KJ Apa, Juliet Rylance, John Ortiz, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Peggy Lipton, Dennis Quaid and Josh Gad.

Director Lasse Hallstrom specializes in emotional, feel-good fare that can make audiences cry, and this tearjerking drama is no exception.

The comedy, drama is rated PG for thematic elements and some peril.

Critics Consensus: A Dog’s Purpose offers an awkward blend of sugary sentiment and canine suffering that tugs at animal-loving audiences’ heartstrings with shameless abandon.

Director Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon is a war-romance set in pre-independent India.

The epic love story that follows Julia (Kangana), the daredevil actress of the 40’s who rules hearts, to the jungles of the India-Burma border where she must entertain the English and Indian troops.

In the midst of battles and betrayals, Julia falls in love with a young Indian soldier, Nawab, and learns some bitter truths about the dream of Indian independence. Battle lines are drawn when her mentor and lover, Rusi, learns of the torrid love affair.

The period film stars Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut.

Hidden Figures is the incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe) - brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world.

The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.

The biographical drama is rated PG for thematic elements and some language.

Screening at the CINEMAX is a Gujerati social comedy drama Carry On Kesar directed by Vipul Mehta.

Shyamji and Kesar Patel, a traditional Gujarati elderly childless couple live in a small town in Gujarat.

A fashion designer based in Paris, Annie comes across Kesar’s artistic work and makes arrangement to learn the art from her.

However, things don’t go as planned and a twist of fate prompts Kesar to confront her past.

European mercenaries searching for black powder become embroiled in the defense of the Great Wall of China against a horde of monstrous creatures in the 2 dimensional action-adventure, The Great Wall, rated PG-13 for sequences of fantasy action violence and starring Matt Damon, Jing Tian, Pedro Pascal, Willem Dafoe and Andy Lau.

Bruce Wayne (voice of Will Arnett) must not only deal with the criminals of Gotham City, but also the responsibility of raising a boy (Michael Cera), he adopted in The Lego Batman Movie, screening in 2 dimension at CINEMAX.

While Christian (Jamie Dornan) wrestles with his inner demons, Anastasia (Dakota Johnson) must confront the anger and envy of the women who came before her in the last show of Fifty Shades Darker rated Strictly Adults Only as proof of age will be required.

Jolly (Akshay Kumar) is a clumsy lawyer who is faced with representing the most critical court case of his career in in satirical courtroom drama Jolly LLb 2.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Shah Rukh Khan still playing a game of cat and mouse in Raees, whereby a determined police officer threatens to destroy a crime lord’s powerful empire in Gujarat, India.
