Music lovers were in for a treat when World Renowned Zimbabwean
musician, popularly known as ‘Tuku’, Oliver Mtukudzi took to the
stage at the Acacia Premier Hotel, Kisumu on Saturday 17th
While the famous musician is not new to Kenya, this was his
first performance in the Lake Side City of Kisumu and outside
the City of Nairobi.
The event featured performances by Kisumu born Musician Suzzana
Owiyo and Comedian and Radio Personality MC Jalang’o.
Known for his song ‘Todi’, Tuku began performing as early as
1977 when he joined the Wagon Wheels, a band that also featured
Thomas Mapfumo, known for his husky voice, he has become the
most recognized voice to emerge from Zimbabwe and onto the
international scene and he has earned a devoted following across
Africa and beyond.
“This is truly an honour for me to be back in Kenya again,
every time I come here am amazed by the love the Kenyan
people show me.
“I am excited particularly to be performing in Kisumu for
the first time as I have heard great things about the city.

cannot wait to sample the fish offered fresh from the famous
Lake Victoria.” Said Oliver.
