Kenyan Talent Stars in Guinness New Global Football Campaign


Coastweek -- Guinness has unveiled a new campaign to celebrate the current English Premier League season.

The latest campaign dubbed ‘Made of Football’ lauds passionate football fans across the continent and the lengths they go to, to show their love for the game.

Filmed in Kenya using local talent, the ‘Made of Football’ advert brings to life the passion that is unique to Kenya and shows we have the most dedicated and vibrant football fans in the world.

Included in the cast is home grown talent Peter Nzioka who plays in the Kenyan National Amputee Football squad. Peter’s role in the ad brings to life how nothing can stand in the way of truly passionate fans.

Previous to appearing in the campaign, Peter was part of the inspirational Kenyan team that represented their country in the Amputee Football World Cup in Culican, Mexico, 2014.

The ad shot in Nairobi includes scenes of the iconic City Stadium, Garden Square restaurant and the old railway station as well as in the old railway tracks next to the Railway museum, Monrovia.

The track behind the TV ad was created by Grammy award winning musical group Konono No1 from Kinshasa, DRC.

The group combine three electric likembés, a traditional instrument similar to the mbira- a wooden board with attached staggered metal tines, with vocals and instruments that have been made from items salvaged in a junkyard.

“This year we are showing even greater support for the incredible football fans across the country.

“With the ‘Made of Football’ campaign, we will be providing exciting experiences for football fans up and down the country, whether that is incredible prizes and competitions or unique viewing experiences and maybe a few surprises along the way,” said Samuel Wasswa, Marketing Manager Guinness, Pilsner and Portfolio Beers.

He added, “Guinness is an iconic beer that has the darkest liquid, but the brightest flavours and has always had the authenticity, boldness and vision to do things differently. Unlike anywhere else in the world, football has the power right here in Kenya to unite people.”

For the first time ever, the Guinness TV ad will feature a female voice over narrating the story illustrating the dynamism of the brand.

Made of Black is part of the highly successful global GUINNESS® Made of More™ campaign which has been running for over four years now.

Guinness is a proud sponsor of SuperSport’s English Premier League broadcast, over the coming months there will be a series of exciting initiatives from Guinness to help reward and inspire football fans.
