Fetuwe Qualify for Super Cup Quarter Finals

Coastweek -- Fetuwe FC completed their Pool A matches on a flying note when they hammered UB40 FC 4-0 during a one-sided match of the Unga ni Taifa Super Cup competition match played at Mombasa Sports Club ground.

The victory enabled defending champions Fetuwe to qualify for the quarter final of the annual competition sponsored by Mombasa Maize Millers and organised annually by Mombasa Sports Club.Fetuwe scorers were Simon Sipi, Moses Njui, Papa Kotela and Ibra Mubarak.

The Fetuwe team is handed by Chairman Said Bakhressa, nicknamed Pereira who doubles up as the team coach said they are going flat out to make sure they retain the trophy they won last year.

“We’ve a very good team which can win against any side in the competition,” he said.

Bakhressa thanked Swaleh A Bawazir of Emeralde Limited for sponsoring the team once again.

“It is through his sponsorship that we manage to do well in the tournament,” the Fetuwe boss said.

Two-time winner, Green Eagles FC also sailed to the quarter final when they after edging Mombasa Sports Club (MSC) 1-0 in a Pool D clash with the lone goal scored by Pacific Odhiambo in the 12th minute.

Changamwe United FC sponsored by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Mombasa sub-branch chairman, Juma Goshi Alliy, have qualified for the last eight when they drew 2-2 with Nyundo in a match which was abandoned with five minutes to go when Nyundo walked off protesting that the scorer was off-side.

In Pool B, Mombasa Maize Millers are leading the pack with four points, followed by Bodo Glimts which has the same number of points but with inferior goal aggregate.

Kisauni Youth is at the top of Pool C with four points and followed by Bibla FC with the same number of points. The other two teams in the pool are Congo Boys and AO Bayusuf.
