Cliff Osano is the New Burhani Coast Open Snooker Champion

Coastweek -- Osano from Railway Club Nairobi made a brilliant comeback to beat Sagar Karia of Mombasa Sports Club in a gruelling best of nine frames final at the Burhani Crucible one of the best snooker tables in Kenya, reports ALIHUSEIN NAMAJEE.

Sagar started in style winning the first frame by a wide margin but Osano levelled the scores by taking the second frame on the black ball after a bad mistake by Sagar.

The next two frames were won by Sagar and with a commanding lead of three frames to one it looked like it was Sagar’s match but Osano like a wounded lion fought back gallantly to win four frames in a row to claim the title convincingly by winning the match five frames to three.

Both players reached the finals after white washing their opponents in four straight frames in the semi finals.

Osano beat Huzefa Zulfikar of Tanga while Sagar beat Phillip Cheruiyot his counterpart from Mombasa Sports Club.

Osano also claimed the highest break of 36 points which he got in the first round.
