Junior Stars Celebrate Win

Junior Stars defeated Espirito 2-0 with goals
scored by Imran Mpaata and Captain Mutua Mwema

Coastweek-- Junior Stars Football Academy celebrated 5 years of existence in style when their Under-15 team won the Junior Stars Peace tournament held last weekend.

The tournament involved ten teams - Southern Stars, Daytona, Kikulacho, Espirito Youth, Migadini Youth, Junior Stars Football Academy, Black Madrid and Golden Boys.

The first part of the tournament was played just before the general elections.

The semi-finals were played on March 31 where Southern Stars beat Dayatona 2-0 with Abdhulkadir and Abubakar scored for Southern Stars.

Junior Stars defeated Espirito 2-0 with goals scored by Imran Mpaata and Captain Mutua Mwema. The long anticipated finals were played on April 7, 2013 where Junior Stars registered a narrow 1-0 victory over Southern Stars.

The two teams equally tough during the match went on goalless until last minute.

Then Southern Stars made the ultimate mistake scoring an own goal. In the end, Junior Stars went home with the trophy.

Imran Mpaata who is Junior Stars lethal striker was awarded the top scorer with three goals.

Imranís scoring tactics have been on the rise since he was 8 years.

It is such a joy to see the growth of some of the founding players at Junior Stars.

The under 15 has potential to join big leagues in the next 5years, they have great potential, says a senior team coach Jay Juma.

The young teams which include under 8 and under 12 could not hide their joy as they celebrated by running around the field with the trophy.

He also thanked well wishers who supported the Mombasa Team at the just ended Tanna Hill Shield Easter Tournament that took place at Royal Nairobi Golf Club on Friday 29th through to Sunday 31st March, 2013.
