Thrills and Spooks
This Movie Week !

Coastweek -- AWARD WINNING director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) brings us another thrilling mystery drama with James McAvoy, Vincent Cassell and Rosario Dawson, writes ANJUM ASODIA.

Trance, which opens at the NYALI CINEMAX this week shows us an art auctioneer, Simon who goes onto the dark side when he joins up with a gang of thieves whose specialty is fine arts that have a lot of value.

An expensive Goya is selected and the robbery is successful.

In the process though, Simon gets a blow to his head rendering him unconscious.

When he comes to, he seems to have got a temporary loss of memory and cannot remember where he has hidden the precious painting.

Gang leader Frank is of course not very happy and tries everything to jog Simon’s memory but nothing works.

When all else fails he hires the services of a hypnotherapist to solve this problem.

As she goes deeper into the abyss of his mind where many secrets have been locked over time, she realises that she has got herself into more than just a hypnotic session.

Ek Thi Daayan (once there was a witch) is the second new film at the NYALI CINEMAX that is also on it’s worldwide release.

India’s top-notch magician Bobo is in trouble.

Despite having success at his fingertips, his life is in shambles.

Constant hallucinations are making his life miserable and he is forced to seek psychiatric help.

Through regression hypnosis (again ??) the reality comes out that there was an evil power that destroyed his family when he was a child and the same daayan has come back to finish what she started.

Now that he knows the truth, Bobo decides to put all this past him and move on with his life.

That is until the irresistible Lisa Dutt enters his life.

He is so sure that she is the daayan and will ruin him and does everything in his power to get her out of his life, but is she really or is all this a figment of his imagination ?

Emraan Hashmi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kalki Koechlin and Huma Qureshi star in this Kannan Iyer direction that has been produced by Ekta Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj.

Arnie boy is back again after a long break where he tried his hand at being the Governor of California and was actually voted in for two terms.

Schwarzenegger can be seen with Forest Whitaker and Johnny Knoxville in the action thriller The Last Stand which opens at the NYALI CINEMAX this week.

Sheriff Ray Owens lives in the small town of Sommerton Junction where the crime rate is almost zero.

He has banished himself to this life after his actions messed up an operation while he was a leading officer in the Los Angeles Police drugs Department.

All that changes when a notorious drug dealer Gabriel Cortez escapes from an FBI convoy that is transporting him and escapes into Sommerton Junction.

Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum and Bruce Willis are still kicking butt in two and three dimension in GI Joe Retaliation.

An heart-wrenching true story about the 2004 Tsunami is relived on the big screen with the Spanish production in English language, The Impossible which stars Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts.

Vidyut Jamwal and Pooja Chopra are still galavanting around the forests to escape the local mafia.

Commando is a Vipul Amritlal Shah production.
