Healthy Heart Fair and Talk.

The
people of Mombasa are very fortunate to have
local consultants who gave talks on this day
with reference to the theme Healthy Heart
Awareness.
The
event took place at the Diamond Jubilee Hall
on Sunday, 27 April 2008 from 5.00 - 9.00 p.m.
The
Fair had many things to offer. There were
various stalls displaying and selling healthy
wares.
Reputable
companies from Mombasa as well as Nairobi
displayed their products.
These
were the very popular Healthy U coming all the
way from Nairobi to display their very famous
products as well as Bio yoghurt, The Nyali
Health Club, Forever Living products and Pwani
Oils who were not only displaying their
cholesterol free oils but also had healthy
sugar and preservative free juices for sale.
The
Cardiac Support Group together with dedicated
volunteers from the Aga Khan Hospital had set
up stalls for the measurements of BMI's and
blood pressures as well as blood sugar levels. |

the public on the various food choices and
healthy food preparations.
This
was a very popular and long queues were seen
with most people patiently awaiting their
turns in order to know if they were over
weight or if their blood sugars were high.
The
cardiac support group also had fresh fruits
for sale.
These
were very kindly donated by Khosla Farms and
almost all the fruit was sold by the time the
fair ended.
There
were some lovely heart shaped key chains and
other articles for sale and not to forget the
madafus' which were enjoyed by all.
The
highlights of the evening were the
enlightening talks given by Dr. Vinesh Vaghela
and Dr. J Maina.
Dr.
Vaghela gave an extremely informative and
interesting talk on heart diseases and ways in
which to prevent getting heart problems.
