"Dr Hermant Patel is today a truly blessed man, because he has freely given 43 years of his life, by offering hope to children with disability through surgical correction of their disability.

"While working as the Provincial Surgeon at the Coast General Hospital from the mid sixties, Dr Patel also volunteered at the clinic as honorary Surgeon.

"Dr Hermant Patel has been a volunteer Surgeon and with APDK Rehabilitation Clinic since 1965.

"The Clinic will always remember Dr Patel as the Surgeon with gifted hands.

"This is because he never had to re-do a surgery.

"Dr Patel also performed the surgeries very economically, mostly avoiding implants, keeping in mind that the children presented from the Clinic were from needy households in the Coast Province and could not afford the surgery and that it was the APDK Rehabilitation Clinic that has to source for funds to facilitate these children's rehabilitation.

"Dr Patel will also be missed at the APDK Rehabilitation Clinic Sub Committee of which he was a member for 43 years.

"We at APDK will miss Dr Patel a great deal, but we see his contribution reflected in the lives of the little ones to whom he gave a new lease of life.
